Half-Iranian, half-English writer/ director Amelia Hashemi joins London-based production company MindsEye.

Hailing loudly and proudly from Leeds, Hashemi's background as a casting director comes to the fore in her work with authentic, heartfelt characters and beautifully observed, nuanced performances.

Hashemi is currently developing her debut feature film with BBC films and Parkville Pictures.

This comes off the back of a string of critically acclaimed shorts. Hashemi's latest, Night Out, premiered at the BFI London Film Festival, picking up a nomination for the London Critics’ Circle award and winning Best Short at Leeds International Film Festival.

Hashemi broke into the world of commercials with her campaign for Volkswagen, a series of three branded films highlighting VW’s partnership with the Motability Scheme. The films, each adroitly addressing a different disability, went on to screen at Cannes Lions and were nominated at the Campaign Big Awards.
