Father Christmas makes a detour to the Golden Arches in this heartwarming spot out of Leo Burnett London.
It's Christmas Eve and Santa and his team are hard at work, journeying around the UK and delivering presents. But while there's plenty of mince pies left out to sustain Santa, the poor old reindeer seem to have been forgotten. Cue sad reindeer faces (props to Framestore London for the stunning CGI) and a near crash-landing when their blood sugar levels start to dip. Luckily, Santa spots a nearby McDonald's, and rushes in to stock up on carrots, handily rebranded as 'Reindeer Treats'.
In addition to the 90-second film, which was directed by James Rouse through Outsider and will run across TV, cinema, VOD and social, McDonald’s has created a Snapchat lens and game that transforms the player’s face into a reindeer and challenges them to catch as many falling carrots as possible. Its #ReindeerReady website is also set to host competitions, including a Christmas jumper giveaway and an animated e-book, while Christmas Day will see the return of Reindeer Ready Live, an augmented reality tool which allows parents to capture the magical moment a reindeer enters their home at Christmas to share with their children.
