BBDO New York and director Martin De Thurah through Epoch Films, create a touching film for Macy’s Christmas campaign.
It’s great that adland is increasingly representing women in elevated roles, rather than as household drudges, and this moving spot depicts a stratospherically elevated mum with a particularly long commute – she’s an astronaut whose work is so vital, she can’t make it home for Christmas.
The film tenderly portrays the seven-year-old daughter’s attempt to reach her mum in outer space by giving her the perfect snow-themed, zero-gravity gift.
It’s an undeniably soppy film but is beautifully directed De Thurah and anyway, what's wrong with a spot of totes emosh at Christmas?
