Directed by Daniel Wolfe out of Anorak Production, Serviceplan’s launch film for BMW’s new luxury offering, The 8 Series Coupé, sees a car driven along the famous Venice Canals for the first time.

Despite the fact that one of the iconic city’s great attractions is its peaceful traffic-free vibe, this film does have a certain cheerful Bond-like brio as the luxury motor whizzes past the lazy boats bobbing on the Canals. The spot follows the story of a young boy who’s a big car enthusiast, but growing up in car-less Venice is rather starved of motor action. Cut to around 20 years later and, as a grown-up, the boy's living out his dream by driving The 8 through the Venetian canals.

It marked the first time ever a car was physically driven on the canals in Venice, the city allowing several pontoons to be constructed for the shoot.
