A Day in the Life of Amy Becker-Burnett
The Rock Hound director takes us behind the scenes on a Nike shoot in south London, from a canine wake-up call to a near sock-related crisis.
.00: Woken up nice and early by a dog sneeze in the face. It’s a sort of sneeze/bark which means ‘I need feeding’.
.00: Arrive on location for today’s Nike shoot. It’s a local one today in sunny South London. It seems I have no choice but to rock a full Nike tracksuit. Comfy and local, no complaints.
.30: Turnover first shot on the rooftop. One of the key talent has broken their arm in a skateboarding accident, so we conceal the cast with some cheeky pocket poses.
.00: Light the interior studio shot. Joe, my DOP and the crew are all amazing, so it’s looking on-point. It’s all a bed of roses until…
.30: We realise Joe is wearing one Nike sock and one from another sports brand. So close…
.00: Unit move. Next stop, a flat in Hackney. Make up in the garden with a discarded Christmas tree. Oh, the glamour.
.30: Joe rolls down the non-Nike sock.
.00: In the basement shooting one of the artist’s handmade hologram machine which everyone is pretty impressed with. All 3 of the creatives we are documenting are super talented and there’s a great energy on set because the focus of the films is their work for this collaboration.
.00: Afternoon tea is served: no expense spared.
.30: Last shot of the day. The production’s been amazing with lots to shoot in a short space of time, but everyone has worked like a well-oiled machine and it looks slick.
.00: Wrap and to the pub for a celebratory pint or two. Can’t wait for day two and to go into offline and see it all come together.
