On Thursday June 21 is the 2018 Young Director Award ceremony, where the best new directorial talent will be lauded at the JW Marriott Theatre.

Today The YDA, which is supported by shots, can reveal who made it onto the shortlist of the 2018 event. There are 91 pieces of work on the shortlist, with every category, as well as a large mix of regions, represented.

The high profile jury, lead by Ali Brown [pictured below], partner and EP at PRETTYBIRD, will be considering the shortlist this week and making the hard decisions about which pieces of work pick up a coverted YDA award ahead of the ceremony on Thursday.

The ceremony will be preceded by a panel talk at which shots editor, Danny Edwards, will be talking to South African director Terence Neale and his producer Rozanne Rocha-Gray about their creative partnership and how it works, before being joined on stage by founding partner and creative director of New York agency Johannes Leonardo, Ferdinando Verderi and Jenny Pham, adidas Originals' senior director, global brand marketing & communications. The quartet, who have worked together on award-winning spots for adidas Originals, will discuss how trust, talent and togetherness can foster great work.

The panel will take to the stage at 4pm on Thursday June 21, and it will be immediately followed by the YDA ceremony and prize-giving.
