Google has released its annual film of the search terms which have shaped the year, and it seems that in 2017, more than ever, the question we were all asking was 'how...?'

Set to Harry Styles’ Sign of the Times, the film (conceived by Google Brand Studio and 72andSunny LA) highlights everything which made 2017 an annus horribilis: the natural disasters which devastated lives and land ('how do wildfires start?), the looming threat of nuclear war ("how far can North Korean missiles go?), and the politically-charged climate created by Trump's planned policies ("how much will the wall cost?").

However, it also reveals the strength of human spirit in the face of adversity, with searches such as how to be a good parent, a strong woman or even a superhero, and, ultimately, how to move forward. Overall, it's an uplifting send-off to the year.
