Across six 60-second spots, the campaign Manuel vs. Toys'R'Us follows a hotelier's various attempts to beat the toy firm at its own game. They have a 25% sale? He discounts everything by 26%, putting stickers across his three-star establishment. They sell trampolines? He buys a trampoline.
The spots, pitched somewhere between Fawlty Towers and The Office, are a radical departure for the chain, whose most famous ad series featured a magical giraffe and a song that is burned into the cerebral cortex of every child born in the '80s or '90s.
