Ogilvy Jordan give brand new twist to fear of flying in a thought-provoking ad that challenges racist assumptions.
Despite the fact you're more likely to give birth to conjoined twins, win and Oscar or become President of the United States than die in a plane crash, many of us remain aviophobics.
However, that fear can have negative impacts on others, as a viral smash ad directed by Omar Hilal for Dejavu Dubai for Royal Jordanian shows. In the ad, we watch people's reactions to an unseen person, and look as everyone regards them with fear and anger. The camera reveals the subject of all their fear to be a regular Middle Eastern man.
This is accompanied by a voiceover that give's this mans view of his fear. “I’m not afraid of flying...I’m not afraid of the risk of it...I'm afraid of being stuck in a place with people who look at me differently. I’m afraid of the what-ifs. What if something wrong happens and they don’t believe me…?”
