TSFF Sets Instagrammers Puzzling Challenge
Red Lion reveals the restoration process behind its silent films by getting attendees to take part in a puzzle.
We probably spend a lot more time scrolling through Instagram than we care to admit, but Red Lion Canada has turned this activity into an advantage in its latest campaign for the Toronto Silent Film Festival (TSFF).
Following the success of last year’s ad, the team decided to adopt Instagram again as its chosen platform to spread the word about the festival’s launch in 2017.
This year, Red Lion has asked Instgrammers to get involved and piece together the Instagram Jigsaw Puzzle.
Currently all the pieces – each one relates to a rare silent film in honour of the festival’s film focus – are scrambled in an illogical order, making it difficult for followers to see the full picture.
“For silent film historians, piecing together a lost silent film is much like putting together a jigsaw puzzle,” says Red Lion’s president/CCO Matt Litzinger. “It can take hundreds of hours sifting through what felt like random pieces to revive just one film.”
So Instagrammers and possible festival attendees are invited to organise the 21 pieces ahead of its launch, with seven surprise prizes up for grabs. Head to the @tsff2017 account now to have a go!
