Cannes Lions Unveils New Entry System
Cannes Lions has simplified its application process & made slight changes to its pre-existing categories.
Cannes Lions has simplified its submission process and announced that entries are now open ahead of its 64th International Festival of Creativity.
A new 10-point entry checklist has been introduced, which should guide applicants through the process with clear guidelines explaining what juries will be looking for.
This year, there aren’t any new Lions being introduced but the following subcategories have been revised:
Technological Craft & Development and Early Stage Technology have been introduced to the Innovation Lions category, which will award the technical complexity of work and ideas at prototype or beta stage respectively.
The Creative Data Lions category has been bolstered with the addition of Data Strategy, Data-Driven Targeting and Use of Real-Time Data categories.
The Media Lions have reduced their data section but included an Excellence in Media section, which recognises successful brand strategies, planning and execution.
An Experience section has been added to the Promo & Activation Lions, which will account for engaging and immersive brand experiences.
“The Lions are developed in partnership with the industry and are in a continual state of review, because it’s vital they continue to reflect current shifts,” says the festival’s Director of Awards, Simon Cook. “So this year, there is no new Lion, instead, we’ve focussed on our existing awards and made developments to cement their relevance.”
