There’s no shortage of drink driving ad campaigns out there aimed at raising awareness and changing people’s habits. However, there’s still a huge amount of accidents that occur daily incurred because of drunk driving.

In America alone, 28 people die per day because of alcohol-induced car crashes.

To bring this to the forefront of drinkers’ minds, Johnnie Walker has created an immersive VR experience produced by VaynerMedia.

While it might seem ironic that an alcohol brand should use such shocking means to warn its consumers about the effects of over-indulging in the brand, the 360 video is a clever piece of branding to remind viewers about the importance of their decisions.

In the spot, three separate stories are interwoven when one of the drivers crashes into a car while trying to overtake another, leaving behind a devastating wreckage.

The experience not only puts viewers in the driver’s seat to fully understand the implications of a crash under these circumstances, but it also marks Johnnie Walker’s nine year commitment to promoting responsible drinking and its recently-launched global initiative to try and get others to do the same.

Johnnie Walker has unveiled the JOIN THE PACT campaign; which asks users to pledge their support digitally and encourages them to take an Uber home instead of driving themselves. At the time of writing this story, over two million people had already committed to the pact.

It seems the brand’s Keep Walking tagline never seemed more appropriate…
