For many, Christmas just isn’t Christmas until John Lewis releases its seasonal offering.

And with rumours building that the ad is due to drop any day now, it’s prime opportunity for emerging filmmakers to have a go and fake the phenomenon.

Which is exactly what happened when A-level media student Nick Jablonka uploaded his final piece for his coursework… and it went viral.

But like most viral success, Jablonka’s John Lewis Christmas Advert 2016 - The Snowglobe organically gained popularity overnight after he posted the video online. He has since added A level media coursework to the title and clarified any confusion by disclosing the purpose of the project and disassociating himself with John Lewis or the production company involved in the production of the actual ad.

The minute-and-a-half-long emotional animation reflects the store’s signature style as it follows a snowman who meets his snowmate come Christmas day.

Jablonka admits that the production quality does not live up to John Lewis’ usual standards, saying, “Although I really appreciate the overwhelming comments, I do believe this piece could do with a lot of work as it was done in around two weeks from start to finish.”

YouTube viewers rushed to reward the youngster, with some even commenting that he could be inundated with offers to work at the retail giant or that his should be used as John Lewis' 2016 seasonal spot (below). Watch this space!

And don't forget to keep an eye out for the real John Lewis ad, which could be out later this week.
