The MTV Video Music Awards 2016 nominations were announced yesterday and showed Beyoncé battling ahead with an impressive 11 nods. Adele brings up that famous – ahem – rear with a respectable eight nominations.

Beyonce was nominated for Video Of The Year for Formation and in the newest VMA category, Breakthrough Long Form Video, for her HBO special Lemonade, while seven of Adele’s nominations are for Hello. Other contenders for the Video Of The Year award are Justin Bieber’s Sorry, Drake's Hotline Bling and Kanye West’s controversial Famous, which featured Donald Trump in the nip, among other delights.

The awards will air live from Madison Square Gardens on 28 August at 9pm EST on MTV. You can see the full list of nominees below and vote (if you're Stateside) here.
