Inspired by the idea of saving something you love for later and to also pay homage to the 100th anniversary of Australian tinned fruit company SPC Ardmona, Leo Burnett Melbourne has created the Preserved Memories initiative.

As the company preserves fruit and veg in cans, the campaign encourages Australians to do the same with their memories so that they can be accessed and shared with future generations.

Objects that hold sentimental value could be forever preserved, in a sort of time capsule can.

Each can will be specially designed to reflect the encapsulated memory so that it can be exhibited and passed down as an heirloom.

“People tend to think of canning as old world, when in fact it’s all about the future. Whether it’s preserving a memory or our country’s fruit, it’s important our kids and grandkids can still enjoy the things we do today,” says the agency’s CCO Jason Williams.

Only 100 memories will be preserved in cans and saved for a century. So, to enter your memories, post them onto the Facebook page or follow other people’s stories with the #WorthPreserving hashtag.
