Colenso BBDO Tests the Hungry
Feeling hungry? You might be tempted to download a useless app… and be pleasantly rewarded with a free SNICKERS.
It’s lunch time so you’re probably hunched over your desk reading this, balancing a sandwich in your other hand, right?
Or if you’re not, you must be really hungry… so hungry in fact, that you might be tempted to download one of these super convenient apps – Liquishield; Is My Phone On?; or 1000 Silent Ringtones? That promise to make phone screens waterproof, check if the phone is on and play silent songs respectively.
Although April Fools was last week, Colenso BBDO has extended the fun with a continued You’re Not You When You’re Hungry campaign for SNICKERS.
Tricking smartphone users to download these useless apps, the campaign wanted to test how people’s concentration reduced when they were hungry.
In just a week, over 2,000 people downloaded the apps…
But, in reality, this tomfoolery worked to their advantage as once they had opened the app and tried to use it, they would be rewarded with a mobile voucher for a free SNICKERS bar.
Not bad for a starved slip-up...
