As one of the five senses, sight is often something that we take for granted.
It’s difficult to really understand what life without this sense would be like as our vision is never fully impaired and we often can not imagine what it would be like long term. No sunsets, smiles or skylines. But perhaps this isn't so...
Cheil Hong Kong has created a new campaign for Samsung which allows the blind to see photos of the city’s famous skyline.
The campaign asked Instagram users to share the iconic HK skyline by using the #BeTheirEyes hashtag accompanied by a short description of what they see.
Hong Kong Blind Union – a self-help group that strives for equal opportunities for the visually-impaired through greater social integration – then translated the descriptions into braille and transferred these onto stickers. These were then stuck on a viewing spot pposite the skyline allowing all those positioned in front of it - visually-impaired or not - to see what lay ahead of them.
On top of this, Samsung is making donations for every photo that’s posted online and helping to fund treatment for visual impairment.
