If you’re a gamer and love what VR is expected to do to the industry, then you’ll love the stunt performed for mobile manufacturer, HTC… although, you’ll probably be glad that you weren't there to see it live.
Pedestrians were stopped in East London’s streets by actors dressed as video game characters – including the rectangular paddles from Pong and sweets from Candy Crush Saga.
Created by B-Reel, the series of eight spots helmed by Zac Ella went online yesterday coinciding with the pre-order of Vive’s virtual reality system. Using wireless controllers and room scale motion detectors, the new system enables gamers to enjoy VR games in a 360-envronment.
To convey what the new VR gaming experience would be like - especially with the Vive headset - actors blocked the paths of pedestrians and re-enacted various games around them.
Available here at £689, the Vive is almost twice as expensive as the Oculus Rift (£359) although additional features - Job Simulator, Fantastic Contraption and Tilt Brush by Google - are also included in the price.
More videos in the series can be found here, but a selection of the stunts are shown below.
