Leo Burnett: Live Inside A Painting
Artist Van Gogh has joined AirBNB and listed his bedroom at the Art Institute of Chicago.
Calling all art lovers and avid travellers: Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh is inviting you to stay in his bed.
While some of you may find this puzzling, particularly as he died over a century ago, it is in fact true… thanks to property rental provider AirBNB and Leo Burnett.
It is well known that the post-Impressionist painter travelled extensively around the world – growing up in the Netherlands, living in England and dying in France – but it was not until two years before his death, that he found a place he could call home.
Now the bedroom from his beloved Yellow House has reached America as it has been installed in the Art Institute of Chicago.
Van Gogh himself immortalised the cherished room in three Bedroom paintings (above, painted 1889), enabling the gallery to recreate his safe haven and allow fans to sleep in the artist’s bed at just $10 a night (at top).
The cost of this experience also includes two tickets to his temporary exhibition, which is featured at the museum and currently displays about 36 of his artworks.
The room listing went live yesterday coinciding with the exhibition’s launch – so it would’ve made for a perfect Valentine’s Day retreat.
