The words Once Upon A Time… are often linked with bedtime stories and fairy tales about distant, fantastical lands.
But 180LA has created Unfairy Tales, a new campaign for UNICEF to highlight the reality of warfare faced by many Syrian children.
Tomorrow, the campaign will screen its first spot in the animated series, titled Malak and the Boat, at the Supporting Syria & The Region donor conference in London.
In the animation, seven-year-old Malak is pictured crossing the Mediterranean by boat as she escapes the Syrian conflict with her family and other soon-to-be refugees. Her tale reveals the extent of the horrors seen and what effect it has, particularly on children.
The second film in the series – Ivine and Pillow – will be released in March.
To support the series and raise awareness of the fact that 2016 marks five years of fighting in Syria, tweet #NoLostGeneration and #ChildrenofSyria.
