Lobbies are fairly boring places. Used mostly as entrance halls, reception rooms or even waiting spaces – it’s fair to say, that they’re not the most interesting of areas and rarely offer much inspiration.

But Toronto-based agency Zulu Alpha Kilo purposefully created a fun and collaborative culture in its lobby for workers and visitors alike.

Since the office’s opening in 2008, a blank canvas was mounted to the wall and all those who entered were encouraged to leave their mark on it.

A stop-motion camera snapped over 100,000 images of individuals – including celebrities, staff and clients – adding their artistic flair to the canvas, although agency founder/CCO Zak Mroueh admits he never actually contributed to the piece.

Zak decides what to do to the wall.

Now, seven years later, Mroueh has finally added his bit – although it’s not the most creative of doodles. Instead, he has painted over the canvas and restored it to its original white palette… ready for the next seven years of artwork to take hold of the agency.

“With so many exciting changes happening at Zulu, it felt like the right time for us to start a new chapter,” said Mroueh.

So, chance your luck, sneak in, paint something offensively obscene on the canvas and become part of the Zuligan culture.
