At this time of year, you might be hard-pressed to spend any money especially if you’ve swept (and survived) the January sales.

But a new campaign created in-house from Louis Vuitton might just convince you to part with your precious pennies… as it’s all in the name of charity, daaarling.

Today marks the launch of the Silver Lockit, a small silver VL-engraved padlock charm fitted to either a necklace or a bracelet (below).

“Charity starts at home. We’ve challenged our teams to come up with a simple but strong product that symbolizes protection,” says the brand’s chairman/CEO Michael Burke.

Not only are the jewellery pieces designed to be delicately elegant, but $200 of each item's price (available upon request only) will be donated to global charity UNICEF.

The fashion retailer is encouraging jewellery wearers to #MakeAPromise and upload a photo of crossed pinkies – that symbolise the act of promise-making – onto social media using the campaign’s hashtag.

UNICEF works towards the development of children’s rights worldwide, so the donations will go towards funding the organisation’s efforts. But don’t worry if you’re not a jewellery wearer but still fancy getting involved, you can donate online.

Several celebrities have already endorsed the campaign, such as Selena Gomez and Miranda Kerr – who posted images of themselves locked in a pinky promise and wearing their Silver Lockits (below).

So, if you are feeling the pinch this month, at least this way you can justify splashing out on one luxury item.
