Coldplay: Adventure Of A Lifetime
Coldplay don chimp suits and monkey around in their CGI video displaying jungle-inspired choreography.
Imagine if a group of chimps discovered music for the first time in the jungle? How do you think they would react?
Ok, so it's unlikely that they'd find a Beats speaker lying (or even working) in the middle of the rainforest... but bear with me - the rest is plausible.
Helmed by Mat Whitecross - who has previously worked with the band on other videos - the new Coldplay song sees the band members dress up as chimps and rock out in animated, CGI style with a little help from star choreographer-cum-director Holly Blakey.
"Every Coldplay video is a completely new adventure," says Whitecross. "They usually begin with a midnight call from Chris, and end with a unicycling elephant or a music hall built in the snow on the bank of the Thames. This time was no exception - Chris Martin and Andy Serkis texted me a selfie from a plane heading to LA, and a month later we found ourselves on the floor of the Imaginarium studio, with the band pretending to be dancing chimps!"
Earlier this week, Beats by Dre unveiled a teaser of the video to promote the new Beats Pill+ (below), featuring the stars.
Look out for an interview with director Mat Whitecross next week and a behind-the-scenes video to show the different stages of the six-month production process.
