Play the Game with Chris Paul and Jordan Brand

To celebrate the launch of NBA point guard Chris Paul’s latest CP3.IX shoe, Jordan Brand has teamed up with innovation agency AKQA to engage basketball fans via a unique 8-bit mobile game.

Starring CP3 himself as an animated character and supported by an exclusive chiptune remix of Energy by rapper Drake & Boi-1da, the experience offers fans the opportunity to unlock product access by playing Striking Control.

Visitors to the site will gets to lace up the new CP3.IX shoe and guide Chris Paul’s avatar through a Jordan Brand-inspired cityscape. As they move right or left to navigate obstacles and dodge lightning, they’ll perform CP3’s signature moves including the cross-over, behind the back, juke, through the legs, side-step and spin.

The game was designed to be highly responsive, allowing players to control CP3’s moves with the slightest touch – a nod to the responsive control offered by the CP3.IX products.

As milestone scores are reached, new colourways are unlocked for purchase through Jordan.com and NIKEiD taking the rewards into the physical world. The very best players will earn a spot on the elite Top 23 Leaderboard.

To take the competition to the next level, players can tweet #StrikingControl and the lightning emoji to create their own in-game lightning bolt, which will appear along with their Twitter handle when another player is struck down.

The game was recently brought to life at the Kings of SoCal basketball tournament on Santa Monica Pier in California. A life-sized, interactive version of the game allowed a player’s body movements to control Chris Paul’s actions on-screen. There was also an arcade console version available for fans to play.
