If you heard about Colenso BBDO’s summer campaign released earlier this year, you’ll know that the creatives teamed up with scientists to create a beer that saves the planet.

Using Kiwi beer DB Export to create Brewtroleum - an environmentally-friendly solution that can be used to power cars - the team converted leftover beer into biofuel and encouraged guilt-free drinking.

There was only one small problem… How to get the non-drinkers involved?

“Brewtroleum has turned drinking beer into an incredibly selfless act, and New Zealanders have really embraced that,” says Colenso BBDO's CCO Nick Worthington. “We’re excited to add DB Export 0.0% Citrus to the range and invite even more Kiwis to help save the entire world through drinking beer.”

The campaign, helmed by Tim Bullock, sees professional males craving a beer while at work but restraining themselves as they on the job.

But now, thanks to DB Export’s 0.0% alcohol beer, doctors, pilots and mechanics can all drink while working… and know that quenching their thirst will contribute to the planet’s wellbeing.

Since the campaign launched in July, over 300,000 litres of the biofuel have been created enabling a DB Export Bretroleum station to open up and supply 60 service stations in New Zealand.

What better excuse do you need to drink beer?
