Technology has enhanced our viewing experiences, but now viewers can be in control of content and direct music videos from the comfort of their sofa… well, kind of.

Last Friday, Colonel Blimp, Polydor Records and The Outfit partnered with Channel 4 to unveil Years & Years’ new music video during an ad break for 8 out of 10 cats.

Lasting four minutes, the spot - helmed by Fred Rowson - saw the band perform the song Shine three times in three separate videos.

During the commercial, viewers could choose which version they wanted to watch by tweeting #chooselight #choosedark or #chooseshadow.

The spots attracted almost 14,000 tweets – making them Channel 4’s most interacted piece of advertising ever.
