Dole Japan Launches First Edible Wearable
Tokyo Marathon sponsor launches the Wearable Banana through agency Dentsu Japan ahead of this Sunday's race.
Fresh fruit and veg firm Dole Japan has been a proud sponsor of the Tokyo Marathon since 2008, so it was just a matter of time before the company cut in on the ever-blossoming running tech market and the company has done so with the launch of the world's first-ever edible wearable.
Created by Dentsu Japan, the Wearable Banana, plugged in the video below, has been released ahead of this Sunday's (22 February) annual city run, which sees around 30,000 people participate, and the brand has claimed that two people will don the device at this year's event.
The product seeks to aid runners in finishing the race and not only can the fruit be eaten at the finish line, but the Wearable Banana also monitors race time, heart rate, shows Twitter messages and will guide runners on the best places to consume other bananas at the four check points suring the run - at 22 km, 27 km, 32 km, and 38 km.
