Become a Kingsman with UNIT9
Interactive site launched to promote new movie giving fans the chance to join the secret service with Colin Firth.
Gone are the days when you’d need to be in the cinema 20 minutes early to catch the latest movie trailers. Film promos are available on demand today and UNIT9 has taken the online viewing experience one further with a unique, immersive experience for new movie Kingsman: The Secret Service.
The company's new Become a Kingsman interactive site combines film and interactivity to bring the story of the film to life. Based upon the acclaimed comic book and directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass, X-Men First Class), the 21st Century Fox movie tells the story of a secret spy organisation that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency's ultra-competitive training programme just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.
The Kingsman interactive site gives users the chance to meet the film’s lead characters and navigate through a series of ‘gamified’ challenges, giving users a taste of the Kingsman's world while also revealing exclusive video content - all under the guidance of the gallant lead character Harry Hart, played by Colin Firth.
Utilising a cross-media connection between a mobile device and desktop, users can play two mission challenges within the Become a Kingsman world, which uses video sequences inspired by key scenes in the movie. One mission is a fight scene, the other is a timed trial using Google Maps - each putting players’ skills to the test to find out if they have what it takes to be a Kingsman Knight.
A true Kingsman has immaculate class, always dresses smartly and fulfils their assignments ‘discreetly’. Users who fail to impress receive Harry Hart’s witty feedback. A “total absence of hand-eye-coordination” can be the reason for a poor performance. Others may have behaved “as discretely as a porcupine in a pillowcase” and are advised to “work on their so-called skills” before reconsidering to apply as a Kingsman Knight.
The experience was created, designed and produced by UNIT9 under the interactive direction of Anrick Bregman, an award-winning director of experiences that combine storytelling and innovative technology. It’s a prime example of innovative movie marketing, embracing and bringing the story to life. Kingsman: The Secret Service opens in theatres on Friday 13 February 2015.
