On My Radar: Alex Tagaroulias

Saatchi & Saatchi Indonesia recently announced Alex Tagaroulias as the agency's new executive creative director.
Having worked on a short-term contract at the agency since April, he has already overseen new business wins including Pertamina Oil and Gas, Air Asia, Petra Foods’ SilverQueen, Top and Rock’r chocolate brands and a new corporate assignment from longstanding client Toyota.
Below, the creative tells us about a recent campaign that’s caught his eye, his love for Liverpool FC and how he thinks the industry has changed since he started working in it.
What’s the best ad campaign you’ve seen recently?
Droga5’s Honey Maid work. The ads (including This is Wholesome (below), Team of Two, Time Away and Dad & Papa) and their social media responses.
What website(s) do you use most regularly and why?
Liverpoolaustralia.com.au – for all of the latest on Liverpool.
Fast Company – so I can feel cool
The Guardian – because I’m a lefty.
What’s the most recent piece of tech that you’ve bought and why?
iPod Touch for my eight year old son’s birthday.
Facebook or Twitter?
Facebook. I lost my Twitter password.
What’s your favourite app on your phone and why?
Camera, because it takes real pictures.
What’s your favourite TV show and why?
I only watch Premier League Football and fishing shows.
What film do you think everyone should have seen?
Apocalypse Now and Stand By Me.
Where were you when inspiration last struck?
In bed.
What’s the most significant change you’ve witnessed in the industry since you started working in it?
A lack of long lunches.
If there was one thing you could change about the advertising industry, what would it be?
To start charging properly for ideas.
