The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) today unveiled a talking Drink Up Fountain as part of its Drink Up #spreadthewater initiative, encouraging people across the country to drink more water, more often.

The Drink Up Fountain, created by agencies Y&R New York and VML New York, dispenses entertaining greetings and compliments intended to entice the drinker to continue sipping.

When a drinker’s lips touch the water, the fountain talks. When the drinker pulls their head away, the voice stops. With hidden cameras set up, unsuspecting individuals were shown using the fountain, built by YesYesNo LLC, in New York’s Brooklyn Bridge Park.

“Water is often taken for granted. The Drink Up Fountain is yet another effort to remind people that you are what you drink, and when you drink water you Drink Up. By having this chatty fountain actually talk to you, Drink Up can have some fun and put the spotlight on water, rightfully giving it the credit it deserves,” says PHA CMO Drew Nannis.

PHA is also asking people to share how water helps power the moments in their life by posting images to Drink Up’s #spreadthewater gallery.
