People are being urged to “give two fingers to breast cancer” in a social media campaign from ad agency Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R’s charity of the year.

The interactive campaign for Breakthrough Breast Cancer asks women to paint two of their nails pink and post a selfie online making a sign resembling the pink ribbon (the international symbol of breast cancer awareness).

Using the phrase ‘paint, pose and pass it on’, more than one million people took to Twitter to post a picture less than 24 hours after the campaign launched and a number of influential UK bloggers and celebrities have also shown their support.

Television presenter Anna Richardson, beauty blogger Tanya Burr, media personality Michelle Heaton and several Made In Chelsea reality stars are among those tweeting selfies and asking participants to make a small donation to the charity by texting NAILS to 70660.
