Tugboat Tokyo has launched a new campaign for beverage Pepsi Nex Zero based on the theme of 'challenge' and inspired by a story about a boy born from a peach in Japanese folklore.
The commercial is the first of a series that will run throughout the year and sees the hero character, Momotaro (The Peach Boy), befriend a group of villagers - dog, monkey and pheasant - whose existence has been threatened by an island of ogres.
Adorned in extravagant costume and dress, the resiliant tribe decide to fight back by embarking on a boat trip heading for the dangerous shores of their enemy. Director Koichi Iguchi's vision sets the scene for the promising series and the commercial ends with the tagline 'forever challenging'. The second installment is set for May 2014.
