The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity to be held on 15-21 June at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France is introducing a number of changes to some of its special awards, which are based on points accumulated from shortlisted and winning work presented at the festival.

The Palme d’Or award, which is awarded to the best performing production company, is worked out on a points system, with 10 points for a Grand Prix; seven for a gold Lion; five for a silver Lion; three for a bronze Lion and one point for a shortlist entry. From 2014 companies will not have to enter 10 pieces of work into qualifying categories to enter the Palme d’Or; all shortlist winners will now be considered for the Palme d’Or and shortlist points will now be capped at 10 points, as is the case with the Agency of the Year award.

In addition to these changes the Media Agency of the Year award will be replaced by the Media Network of the Year award. It will be awarded to the media agency network that obtains the highest score for entries in the Media Lions section. Also the Regional Network of the Year award will be introduced and will be announced during the final awards ceremony on Saturday 21 June.
