Someplace Nice opens in Toronto

Someplace Nice, a new boutique Toronto-based production company has been launched by Chilo Fletcher and Estelle Weir (pictured left and right respectively). Specialising in broadcast and digital production, the shop represents a diverse roster of established and up-and-coming talents, and has forged partnerships with digital and post outfits in order to offer clients a full-service experience tailored to integrated campaigns. Fletcher began her production career at Brown Entertainment, starting out as an executive assistant and quickly becoming an integral part of managing the company’s operations and sales activity. She eventually became an owner in the company, and after eight years she took an executive sales role at Untitled Films. A former executive producer for Untitled Films, Estelle Weir started her production career at Radke Films before moving to its sister prod co OPC to take up the head of sales position.

Tomorrow Awards call for entries

ADC, the first global creative collective of its kind, announced the opening of its 2014 Awards Season, including the 93rd Annual Awards and the Tomorrow Awards call for entries. The ADC Annual Awards and the Tomorrow Awards are complementary, but separate, sister shows that proudly support the mission of ADC Global to connect, provoke and elevate creative professionals in visual communications worldwide. This year, both programmes will run simultaneously with winners being announced during the Festival of Art and Craft in Advertising and Design in Miami Beach. The Festival of Art and Craft in Advertising and Design will take place on 7-9 April 2014. Effectiveness Awards Chairman of Judges announced

Lord Davies of Abersoch, CBE, has announced as chairman of Judges for the 2014 IPA Effectiveness Awards, which is now open for entries. He will oversee the judging panel alongside Awards Convenor Lorna Hawtin, disruption director at TBWA Manchester. Lord Davies was selected for his business and financial experience having held positions as chairman, CEO, and board member of Standard Chartered as well as a government post of Minister for Trade, Investment, Small Business and Infrastructure. PI&C opens in Europe

Cutting-edge New York advertising and communications agency People Ideas & Culture (PI&C) has established a European headquarters and concept development lab in Copenhagen: Y by PI&C. PI&C is the first American creative agency with a presence in Denmark. The new EHQ will make it easier for the company to service new European clients as well as existing clients with a base in Europe. The expansion also establishes Y by PI&C as an innovative concept lab, allowing the company of social entrepreneurs to cross the line of traditional advertising in order to create their own companies and products. The first two of the new ventures for Y by PI&C is Social Aesthetics, a socially and eco-conscious, highly-designed fashion brand, as well as Passione Italiana, artisanal wine and food from Italy meant for a Northern European audience.

Pereira & O’Dell

Pereira & O’Dell has announced a second operation in Brazil, now in Rio de Janeiro, on the heels of its B2W Digital win. The Carioca agency will be led by Michel Lent, managing director of Pereira & O’Dell in Brazil, who will divide his time between the Rio and São Paulo offices. B2W Digital, the largest online retail business in Latin America, selected Pereira & O’Dell as its agency of record and will become Pereira & O’Dell Brazil’s largest client. According to B2W, after a competition that lasted three months and involved four agencies, Pereira & O’Dell was selected for its digital prowess and experience in more developed markets in e-commerce. With the new office, Pereira & Dell continues its global expansion plan. Within one year of opening its first Brazilian outpost in Sao Paulo, the agency signed a lease for an expanded office in August with a team of 30 people commanding brands including Fiat, Natura and Perdigao.

BSUR and V2Future start partnership

BSUR is joining forces with V2Future to bridge between China and Europe. The first shared client is Baidu, after Google the largest search engine in the world, used by 600 million Chinese every day. V2Future is a ‘certified partner’ for Baidu in Europe and is setting up a sales unit for the tech company. BSUR Amsterdam will act as the European marketing and communication partner and will create a marketing and communication strategy for Europe, as well as communication concept and materials tailored for different media.
