2AM director Stephen Whittaker tragically passed away from complications following a routine operation two weeks ago.
The drama director's last project was Sons and Lovers, which was shown on ITV to great acclaim this January.
2AM executive producer Amanda Martin said: "He was a very close friend and it was a huge shock."
Whittaker is survived by his wife Ann, and two children: Jonathan, who works in sound, and Lorna, a second assistant director.
Meanwhile, 2AM are moving offices today from Covent Garden to a larger space in Camden. And Carl Prechezer's short film Harold the Amazing Contortionist Pig will be screened at the Soho Curzon tomorrow night.
