A table full of props, a handful of puppets shaped like letter Is, two puppeteers in skin-tight white morphsuits...it must be a Mark Denton production.
In a studio space somewhere around Park Royal tube station in London (...nope, we didn't know where it was either), Atomic and Thomas & Thomas are creating a series of idents for the i Newspaper (which you can see here) featuring the brand's logo as a metre-high puppet, navigating major news stories from Trump to the Turner Prize. And shots was there to capture the magic.
Top of the page is our interview with director Mark Denton, dressed in his signature personalised velour tracksuit, and below you can see the sheer amount of craft involved in these 10-second spots with a behind the scenes video.
