The Innovation Lions were announced last night (Saturday 21 June) at the Palais de Festivals in Cannes as Cannes Lions came to a culmination with the final awards ceremony of festival week.

One Grand prix was awarded in the category for Megafon Moscow's Megafaces Pavilion, marking the first time the courty had received the top prize at the festival. The work, created by Megafon Moscow, Axis Moscow and Asif Khan Ltd Russia, is a Mount Rushmore-esque installation created for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games and was a standout winner for the jury.

This year, all 30 shortlisted entrants attended the festival to present their work live to the panel. "We wanted to see breakthrough technology," stated David J. Blumberg. " The winner allows architecture to be dynamic and previously it's been very static."

The entrants faced 10 minutes of questions from the jury after their presentations. The three other  Innovation Lions were awarded to Breakfast New York for its Points sign post, Fiat Live Store from AgenciaClick Isobar Sao Paulo and Ogilvy Paris for its Babolat connected tennis racket.

"We held new technology as the highest standard criteria," concludes jury president Tom Bedecarré, chairman, AKQA, president WPP Ventures.
