The YDA podcast launches with Bradford Young

The Young Director Award has released the first episode in an ongoing series of podcasts, hosted by directing duo Radha Ganti and Robert Lopuski, aka King She.

The podcast offers listeners a chance to eavesdrop on intimate conversations between both rising and established directors. From sharing their takes on filmmaking, how to navigate the advertising business, and how to overcome the hurdles that developing new talent can face, the podcast is an entertaining and informative dive into different directors' mindsets and experiences.

The first episode sees Ganti and Lopuski speaking to cinematographer, director and one of last year's YDA winners, Bradford Young. 

Young is an Oscar award-nominated cinematographer [Pariah, Selma, Solo] and an extraordinary new presence in the space of commercial directing. He discusses the necessity of creative community, the cosmological ingredients of great filmmaking and the unexpected potential for creative freedom found in commercial advertising. Young also speaks on the power of strong visual language paired with artistic rigour and shares advice on building one’s own bridge to directing from other crew positions.
