Where there is doubt, there is the potential to gamble and this year the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is an event at which you can take a monetary punt on what you think might win big.

Guess the Lions is the first betting website aimed at the advertising arena and allows the advertising community to put their money where their mouth is while, at the same time, raising funds to finance ad campaigns for charitable causes.

The brainchild of three French advertising lovers, who wish to remain anonymous, Guess the Lions works by allowing users, via the dedicated website, to place US$1.00 micro-bets on ads which they think will be awarded at this year's festival.

Then, once all the categories have been announced across the week, those with the most impressive virtual betting slips will win a variety of donated prizes from a selection of media partners which includes shots, Spotify, Uber, Google, CB News and more.

The money raised from the bets will be given to Good Ad, an initiative of the ACT Responsibly association that helps further the impact of campaigns for charitable causes by broadcasting them to a wider audience via its various media partnerships.

To help would-be gamblers/donators make the right choices, Guess the Lions has a selection of 'bet advisors', including Olivier Altmann and Frederic Raillard [the Fred in Fred & Farid], who will be acting as Cannes pundits on the site and revealing their Top Five picks. You could, of course, also pick up the new issue of shots magazine, our Cannes special, which give a host of predictions.

So, instead of just telling people what's going to pick up metal in Cannes this year, visit Guess the Lions, place your bet and you could be doing both yourself and a worthwhile cause favour.
