After last year's sumptuous Only Slightly Exaggerated campaign overwhelmed our eyeballs with its animated beauty, creators Psyop (along with animation partner Sun Creature) and agency W+K Portland have once again taken us back to its fantastical setting for the sequel.

With Only Slightly (More) Exaggerated, directors Kylie Matulick and Todd Mueller have reimagined more Oregon locations as fantastical settings, incorporating the most imaginative creature design this side of a Studio Ghibli movie.

Some fun facts from Psyop, on the project:

  • 12 drawings were created per second of the film. That’s 1,260 unique drawings for the entire spot.
  • The 22nd of February was the busiest day in the studio: 39 artists working on 21 individual shots in 10 different phases.
  • The project had an around the clock team working on it across Asia, Europe, Australia and North America
  • The cloud animation took 42 full days to animate with all the different organic moving parts within it
  • 60 unique characters are portrayed in the film… chosen from 500 designs and redesigns … and redesigns
  • 31 background drawings were deemed representative of the beauty of Oregon’s landscapes, more than 900 hours were spent making these.
